Springfield Medical Center - Mayo Health System

THE SHARED VISION: Quality Critical Access Hospitals that can keep and attract skilled health care professionals are vital to the quality of life in small town America. This multi-phase project transforms a 1950's hospital into a modern medical center. At the outset the architect, working with Administrator Scott Thoreson, FACHE, devised a Critcal Access Hospital concept designed for efficiency, flexibility and patient-centered care.
THE INNOVATIVE DESIGN: Seamless integration of new construction with the existing facility is accomplished as funding becomes available. The process began with the merger of a four doctor clinic into the hospital setting. Based on the project concept, Radiology, Laboratory, Business, Helath Information and Patient Registration are shared. The current phase adds new patient rooms, nursing stations and healing garden.
