SLEEPY EYE MUNICIPAL HOSPITAL Appleton Municipal Hospital & Clinic Appleton, Minnesota THE SHARED VISION: To meet long term community health care needs with a patient centered facility with increased staff efficiency and ability to recruit physicians. THE INNOVATIVE DESIGN: The clinic and hospital addition has a single, welcoming entrance eliminating confusion for users. The reception is directly inside with the clinic patient lounge to the side. New, shared reception, business, radiology and lab areas increase efficiency.
	< The reception area is the logistic center of the facility. Appointment and registration desks are immediately visible on entry.
	< Staff can easily observe and welcome all who enter. Office and information areas are located conveniently behind the reception desks.
	< The patient lounge is bright with natural light and warmed with wood trim. This inviting area can help put patients and their families at ease. It is easily visible from the reception desk, giving patients a sense of easy access to assistance.
	< Updated hospital rooms and corridor finishes convey a less cold and sterile environment. Large windows with warm wood trim help the patient feel less isolated.
	< The hospital patient care provider station is centrally located for the convenience and efficiency of the staff.
	< A large canopy provides shelter for patients being dropped off or picked up.
